

Ethnic style of dress is defined by the use of pieces of garments, motifs, or embellishments characteristic of a cultural region other than the one in which the garments are meant to be worn. In the case of Western fashion, ethnic costumes are traditionally garments from non-Western cultures, like Asia or Africa. (1)
The lower image is a Geisha from Kyoto Japan wearing a traditional garment of Japanese culture.
The top image is of African women dressed in flowing African-style garments, perform traditional Afro-Brazilian dances to songs praising the beauty of black women. (2) Both images depict ethnic garments from a Western cultures perspective.
